Press Release Body = Critical component added to implant dentists' education

Advanced dental procedures focus on the "how to" aspect of surgical and implant
dentistry, but have rarely dealt with the communication tools available from other
technologies which is really the "getting the message across" task.

The Pacific Implant Institute in Vancouver, Canada has introduced a Digital
Photography Course May 11-12, 2007 as part of the Implant Masters Program. This
addition is a 'first' for implant institutes, and shall be instructed by
internationally renowned cosmetic dentist Dr. Ed Lowe of Vancouver, Canada and his
colleague Mr. Nelson Rego (CDT) of Rego Smiles in Los Angeles. They have instructed
throughout North America before contracting with Dr. Ron Zokol to make the Pacific
Implant Institute the permanent host affiliate. The Pacific Implant Institute has
created a two day digital photography program that will encompass all phases of
patient education, laboratory and communication, and portrait photography. The
primary goal will be to teach dentist, dental staff, and ceramist how to incorporate
digital imaging into their practices. The secondary goal will be to expose attendees
to the different types of peripheral technology associated with digital photography.

From an initial diagnosis and treatment planning standpoint, digital photography
allows dentists to document the patient's case and present it in a layout that is
conducive to case acceptance and enrollment in treatment. The initial images can
also be printed or emailed to other clinicians if it is an interdisciplinary case.
Imaging software can be used to demonstrate the potential outcome of the case as an
additional motivator for the patient.

Digital photographs during treatment allows the documentation of interesting aspects
of the case and areas of interest from a dental standpoint in case the dentist
desires to present this case in a lecture or publish the case in a dental journal.
In addition, many dentists also like to take photos of unexpected findings where any
clinical judgment may be queried by the patient or peers to defend decisions should
such a situation arise.

The benefit of this technology is literally endless - and is not limited to in some
cases tripling the case acceptance on higher end work (although who can argue with
that?). Communication is improved, and there are fewer mistakes with lab work
because anyone can see exactly what is being discussed, expected, and ordered.
